Software engineering and construction regulation, done by the same people. We build software that proves buildings meet the standards, with calculations that stand up to scrutiny.
BRS Technology sits between two trades that rarely share a vocabulary: software engineering and construction regulation. Plenty of development teams can build a calculator. Far fewer can tell you whether its answer will survive Building Control.
That gap is the whole business. We interpret the standards (Part L, Part O, PAS 2035, BR 443 and the SAP and BREL conventions) and turn them into software. The same people do both, which is why the numbers our software produces hold up at submission.
We don't bolt construction knowledge onto software. We build it into the software from the start.
How we work
We build with clients rather than at them. Software like this is only useful if it matches how people actually specify, so the technical team who know the product are involved from the start rather than handed a demo at the end.
We would also rather say early that software is not the answer than take the work anyway. Most of what we build replaces a spreadsheet somebody is quietly afraid of. The judgement is in deciding what should be automated, what still needs an engineer's decision, and what has to stay visible on screen so the person signing it off can see how the answer was reached.
Two kinds of work
We work in two directions: our own construction compliance software, and specialist software built for manufacturers under their own brand.
Both draw on the same thing: knowing the regulation well enough to encode it, and the industry well enough to make it useful.
Our own software
A connected suite of tools for building performance and compliance. autoPSI models thermal junctions, autoBREL handles as-built evidence, autoTHERMAL covers TM59 and Part O overheating, and autoHEM is in development for the Home Energy Model.
Software for manufacturers
Specialist tools and site apps built under a manufacturer's own brand, for their customers and their field teams. Knauf Insulation, SOPREMA, URSA, British Gypsum, Isover, MKM, Galaxy, JSP and Superglass all use software built by BRS.
