Knauf Insulation Embodied Carbon Calculator
A free online embodied carbon calculator, a UK first for an insulation manufacturer, built alongside the U-value calculator so specifiers can work out operational and embodied carbon in one place.

The brief
Regulation of embodied carbon is coming, and specifiers are already being asked to calculate whole life carbon to satisfy clients, local authorities and emerging standards such as the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard. Doing that by hand, product by product, is slow enough that it gets skipped.
What we built
An embodied carbon calculator that sits alongside the U-value calculator we have maintained with Knauf Insulation for years. A specifier can size the insulation needed to hit a target U-value, reducing operational carbon, then generate the embodied carbon figure for that exact product in a single click. It also works as a standalone tool.
Results come back instantly by weight, by area and across the whole project, so there is no second calculation to do by hand.
The data behind it
Knauf Insulation's range is assessed against the latest EN 15804+A2 standard for Environmental Product Declarations, and the calculator links straight through to the relevant EPD so a user can verify the source figures rather than take them on trust.
Knauf Insulation were the first insulation manufacturer in the UK to launch a tool like this.
